Funding awarded for our project on the evolutionary origins of disease risk
We are delighted to announce that our lab has received funding from the Fondation pour la Recherche Médicale for our project, The Evolutionary Rise of Modern Disease Risk.
The project will explore how human evolutionary history shaped present-day susceptibility to complex diseases by combining ancient genomes with large-scale human genomic and medical data. By tracing disease-associated variants across time, from ancient hominins to present-day populations, we hope to better understand why genetic risk for common diseases persists today.
This funding will also support the recruitment of a bioinformatician and a postdoctoral researcher in the lab.
